A humane society on the east coast of Florida is putting on a very elaborate rabbit festival tomorrow. It’s the Bunfest of the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, happening Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 10 am until 4 pm. In addition to such standard rabbit fest services as grooming, nail trimming and scent gland cleaning there will even be spay and neuter services available for $30.
A Bunny Olympics will allow rabbits to demonstrate their skills on an agility course with tubes, hills and teeter-totters. For a small donation a professional photographer will take “glamor photos” using special props and backgrounds.
Owners may bring their healthy pet rabbits in strollers, carriers or proper harnesses, but they will not be allowed to run loose. No other kinds of animals may be brought in.
The location is 4100 SW Leighton Farm Ave in Palm City, FL.
What Hoppington Post finds most surprising is the availability of spaying and neutering for such a low price. One of the reasons why some rabbit owners fail to have their rabbits spayed or neutered is because of the expense. But spaying does significantly reduces the likelihood of them contracting cancer, and neutering bucks makes them must less likely to have behavior problems and more likely to be good with their litter boxes.
We wish much success to the Treasure Coast Bunfest tomorrow, and we hope that attendees of the event will share their photos and videos for those of us who will not be able to be there in person.
